Chris Dawson has proved to be a huge supporter of women in polo – and he’s made it his mission to help these athletes reach their fullest potential. Since forming the Hawaii Polo Life’s women’s team, Chris watched it become one of the greatest teams in the sport.
With Chris’ support, HPL earned the remarkable achievement of making the U.S. Open Women’s Polo Championship finals for four years in a row, and taking home the victory three of those times. One of the amazing players, Pamela Flanagan, opened up about the origin of her working relationship with the Hawaiian entrepreneur.
“In 2017 I was modeling for Hawaii Polo Life and I got to know Chris Dawson. At the end of 2018, I asked him if he would be interested in being the jersey sponsor in one of my tournaments, and he said yes. But a month later he called me back and said ‘what exactly did I sign up for?’ 'You will be sponsoring our U.S. Open team,'" said Flanagan, via uspolo.org. “Chris is passionate about supporting young American players.”
When Pamela first structured the team, she had Chris’ values in mind. One of the players is Mia Cambiaso, the daughter of polo legend Adolfo Cambiaso, who Chris also sponsors, and is his good friend. Adolfo and Chris together have watched Mia become a powerhouse in the game, improving her level of mastery each year.
Two more fantastic players who helped take the victory are Hazel Jackson and Cecily Coors. Together, all four women showed their strength and ferocity to the world.
Chris is determined to continue fighting for women in the sport.
